1. What TandemLegal is

TandemLegal is a communication and drafting tool that connects you with your attorney. It pairs you with an AI assistant that helps you think a legal question through, organize the facts, and prepare a matter summary for your attorney’s review. TandemLegal is not a law firm and does not itself provide legal advice. Your attorney-client relationship is with your attorney, under your existing engagement with them — not with TandemLegal.

2. Communications with your attorney

TandemLegal is provided to you by invitation of your attorney as a channel for communicating with them. Everything you enter into the assistant — messages, uploaded documents, and drafts, whether or not you formally submit a matter — is intended as, and treated as, part of your communication with your attorney, who can access it. Submitting a matter changes how actively your attorney is notified; it does not change who the communication is addressed to.

We intend and design for these communications to be protected by attorney-client privilege, in the same way an email to your attorney would be. During this beta, this treatment has not been tested in any court, and we cannot guarantee how a court would treat any particular communication. Do not use TandemLegal for matters where you are unwilling to accept that uncertainty — raise those directly with your attorney.

3. AI-generated content

The assistant’s responses and draft matter summaries are generated by AI. They are preliminary working material for your attorney’s review — they may be incomplete or wrong, and they are not legal advice until your attorney has reviewed and signed off. Do not act on unreviewed output for anything consequential.

4. Beta service

TandemLegal is in private beta. The service is provided “as is,” may change or be interrupted, and features may be added or removed without notice. We may suspend or terminate access at any time. To the maximum extent permitted by law, TandemLegal disclaims all warranties and limits its liability to the amount you have paid for the service (during the beta, typically nothing).

5. Your account

Access is by invitation from your attorney. Keep your sign-in email secure — anyone with access to it can access your communications. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.

6. Contact

Questions about these terms: reach out to your attorney, or contact the TandemLegal team through the contact information they provide.
